"Reality Television"

An oxymoron? Well maybe not inherently, but there's usually some sort of moron involved in these "caught on camera" rip-offs... They're cheap, nasty and exploitative. They have everything a real documentary has... except insight and intelligence. They're designed to appeal to prejudice and cheap sensationalism, to cash in on easy preconceptions rather than ask questions or shed new light. At their worst they're simply snuff TV.

UnReal Films believes that the recent trend to call these programmes "documentaries" and schedule them accordingly demeans the term, and is closing the door to intelligent documentary television in this country.
